The Jeep Collection 1996
I currently own five Jeeps: 3 CJ 5s, a DJ 5D, and a CJ 7. Below are a few pix and info.
This page is currently under construction, and I'm installing pointers
to various 4WD interesting stuff as free time permits. If you have suggestions
or comments, drop me a line at mrmike@uiuc.edu.
I am interested in Jeep stuff, be it manuals, parts, or whole vehicles, and have lots of CJ parts to trade. I am currently looking for:
- Left (driver's) hardtop steel door from post '80 CJ7 or Wrangler
- Used soft top for 72-75 CJ5
- Dana 300 transfer case in good condition
- Tilt Steering column for 76-up CJ
I have lots to trade; you name it, I might have it.
1978 Jeep CJ 5
This is my most serious project to date, a frame up rebuild of a 78 CJ5. I stripped this beast completely down to the frame, tanked and painted the frame, and started all over. As shown in the picture, it has:
- a mildly warmed-up 350 ci small block Chevy engine
- GM factory manifolds from a 67 Corvette
- a Lakewood shatter-proof bellhousing
- a RAM clutch and pressure plate
- Advance adaptors trans adaptor plate
- T18 4 speed transmission
- Dana 20 transfer case
- stock Dana 30 and AMC20 axles with 4.10 ring and pinion
- 4WD Hardware Fiberglass body
- Skyjacker 2.5 suspension lift
- Con-Ferr shackles
- Rancho polyurethane bushings
- Skyjacker dual front shocks
- Skyjacker braided stainless brake lines
And a whole bunch of other stuff. Holly carb, Accel ignition, roll cage, and custom wiring harness are yet to go on. Two years in the making, and another 6 months to go.
1975 Jeep CJ 5
Not yet a project, but could be. This CJ has the AMC 304 V8, 3 speed T150, Dana 20 transfer case and Dana 44 rear. Body is rough, but it runs pretty well. The 304 can make the little CJ do some serious wheelies, too. Now if only someone could explain to me why the previous owner put only one header on...
1976 Jeep DJ 5D
Such a toy. Obviously, a 2WD postal jeep. AMC 232ci 6 cylinder, auto, manual steering and brakes. But big fun. And cheap. "Urban camo" paint job courtesy of $19 worth of Rustoleum. Farm and Fleet had a sale. This one may soon become a 4WD - that Dana 30 axle in the corner of the garage is starting to feel lonely.
1985 Jeep CJ 7
My latest. 258 ci straight 6, auto, Dana 300, Hardtop. Needs a little work, but will soon be a daily driver.
Thanks for visiting!
